The Bladestaff is a melee weapon in the Orcs Must Die! series. It is a easy to use starting weapon. Its attack is slightly stronger than the primary crossbow attack. The secondary attack creates a shockwave that knocks back enemies a small distance.

Strategies[]

One strategy with the Bladestaff is to place a Boom Barrel on the ground and wait for a group of enemies to attack the War Mage. As they come in close, strike the Boom Barrel. The explosion won't harm you but will damage all nearby enemies.

The Bladestaff works especially well against large enemies such as Ogres, if you freeze them first, using the Ice Amulet.

In Orcs Must Die! 2, during co-op play the player can use the Bladestaff without the risk of being damaged if their partner constantly stuns the enemy.

War Hammer[]

The War Hammer is only available to players who pre-purchased Orcs Must Die! before its release date on Oct 12, 2011. It comes with the Guardian of The Order War Mage skin and replaces the Bladestaff when active. It is purely cosmetic, however; It does not posess any extra abilities beyond what the Bladestaff has, uses the same icon on the player's action bar and deals the same amount of damage as the Bladestaff.

Double Bladestaff[]

The Double Bladestaff is only available to players who had purchsed the PC version of the game prior to PC community slaying 250,000,000 Orcs. Which was accomplished by the Saturday following the release date. It comes with the Orc Slayer out fit which is a darker version of the War Mage outfit and has Red highlights. As with the War Hammer, the Double Bladestaff is the exact same as the regular Bladestaff aside from the look of the actual weapon.
